Welcome to the Open Source Doofing Project

I hate Spam

Due to insane levels of spam, I've had to implement a secret code system to get write access to this wiki (even the captcha was defeated by robots). To get a code to sign up, please email imnotarobot@duklabs.com and I will give you the code. Once you have the code, feel free to pass it on to all your friends as it's just to stop the robots and their robot invasion...

About

The Open Source Doof, is a project started by Giles and Dustin, in an effort to get the community involved in building a structure together with the public & event organisers to put some basic & in-depth guidelines down for all event organisers too consider and help them down the right path.

Also the Open Source Doof project will be putting these idea's and guidelines thought up by the community into practice when we all work together and put on our first Open Source Doof. If you are a DJ / Artist, have lighting to contribute, are good with decor or have some good idea's, please get involved and contribute what you can.

But what is a doof exactly?

Many people think a doof is just a big party out in the middle of the bush, while they're partially right, there's a lot more to it than that. It's about creating a positive, friendly and relaxed atmosphere where like minded people can gather and share ideas, relax, have a bit of a dance and most importantly, have fun.

This project is split into three parts.

(1.) A wiki designed to outline all the factors of putting on a doof, including how you can do it properly, safely and as cheaply as possible.

(2.) Designing and putting together an Open Source Doof that we could do annually.

(3.) A Doofers Guide for people who are planning on going to a doof, covering things like how to be prepared, what's appropriate and other handy hints. One has to think by way of it before coming to a conclusion on about it,beautiful site I like the header.

What is 'Open Source' and how can we benefit from it

Open Source originated from software, meaning that the source code is available for people all over the world to access, make changes/improvements and incorporate new idea's not limited to 1 person or a company. The same principle can be applied to this project with everyone contributing idea's, sets, lighting, decor and other things to the doof. (Please note this is volunteer work)
